NBA Icon Jerry West passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 86. The announcement was made by the LA Clippers organization. West, who’s likeness is used in the NBA’s logo still to this day, was the third player in NBA history to reach 25,000 points, was an all star every year of his career and lead the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA finals nine times, winning one in 1971-72. He was also named to the NBA’s 75th anniversary team. He also helped team USA win gold at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games. Following his playing career West became a general manager, first with the Lakers winning five NBA championships in that time and then with the Golden State Warriors winning two with them.
