North Dakota state regulators have denied Summit Carbon Solution’s permit to build part of its CO2 Carbon Capture Pipeline in the state. This is a key part of the $5 billion project which would span more than 2,000 miles in five states, including South Dakota. The three member North Dakota Public Service Commission voted unanimously to deny the permit claiming Summit failed to minimize the negative impacts of its proposed Co2 pipeline. Summit has the option to challenge the decision in court, but claims it has plans to resubmit the application with a revised proposal.
