Northern men’s basketball picked to finish third and Northern women picked to finish 10th in pre-season coach’s poll

The NSIC has released its pre-season basketball poll in both men and women’s basketball. In men’s basketball Northern State has been picked to finish third in the conference, behind just Minnesota State and Minnesota Duluth as the top team in the poll. Picked as a player to watch is Jacksen Moni, the 6’10 junior forward from Fargo North Dakota. Last season he averaged 31.4 minutes per game scoring 15 points, bringing down five rebounds and averaged 1.7 assists per game. In women’s basketball Northern State has been picked to finished tied for 10th in the conference with Wayne State. Picked to win the conference was Minnesota State Mankato. Picked as a player to watch for Northern is Rianna Fillipi, the 5’8 senior guard from Lennox South Dakota. Last year she averaged 34 minutes per game scoring 11.4 points per game, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
