One man arrested in Yankton Monday for allegedly having an explosive device on his person

One man in Yankton was arrested Monday after allegedly having an explosive device on his person with intent to destroy property or injure. According to the Yankton Police Department, the incident occurred Monday around noon. The Department received reports of an unidentified male threatening a business while also mentioning he had a pipe bomb in his possession. Upon further investigation it was determined the suspect had recently purchased materials that can be used to make a homemade explosive. 30-year-old Jared Herbert Nichols was arrested and faces charges including possession of explosive or device with intent to injure, intimidate or destroy property and threatening law enforcement.
