One person killed, another injured in plane accident near Pierre

One person died and another was injured in a plane accident near Pierre Monday afternoon. According to the Hughes county sheriff’s department the plane went down near the Missouri River northwest of Pierre shortly after 4:00 p.m. The plane was found around 4:35 about a half mile north of Pierre. Two people were taken away via an ambulance, but in the end the pilot survived, though suffered injuries while the passenger was killed. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
