A Peever South Dakota man has been sentenced following being convicted of assault resulting in substantial bodily harm. According to the US Attorney for South Dakota 23-year-old Norbit Bellonger IV was sentenced in July to five years in federal prison, the statutory maximum followed by three years supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $100 to a statutorily required special assessment to the Federal Crime Victim’s Fund. The incident occurred in August of 2022 when Bellonger assaulted an intimate partner by strangulation and suffocation. He pleaded guilty to the charges he faced in April of 2023.
