People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or PETA has sent a letter to the Brown County State’s Attorney’s office asking it to look into an April incident where three cows were found dead inside a holding barn. The barn belonged to New Angus who operates the DemKota Ranch Beef plant in the southwest part of Aberdeen. In the letter, PETA says the cows were reported dead to USDA inspectors at 6:00 a.m. April 3rd. In a statement on the matter, the Brown County State’s Attorney’s Office is looking into the matter and says charges will be filed if deemed necessary.
