A Pierre man has been indicted on first and second degree murder charges. 23-year-old David J. Shangreaux Jr. was indicted by a Hughes county grand jury Tuesday. He is accused of killing 17-year-old Evie Maxey of Rapid City. Maxey was found dead with stab wounds at a home in Pierre around 9:00 p.m. on November 30th 2023. Shangreaux Jr.’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 16th and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
