Pierre police officer pleads guilty to DUI

(KCCR – Pierre, SD) A Pierre police officer has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. Jeremiah Erickson’s attorney Brad Schreiber requested a suspended imposition of sentence in the case. However Erickson has not completed required treatment classes yet. Erickson also requested a work permit, however Sixth Circuit Magistrate Judge Tara Adamski says until the classes are complete, she can’t issue a permit. Also at issue in the case is Erickson’s repeated violations of the 24/7 program. According to court documents Erickson has violated the program with two no-shows in March and a violation in mid-May. The violation form for the May 21st action includes a hand written note, quote “He came in. in his uniform, and was positive.” Court documents also indicted the May 21st violation was the second in four days and that Erickson claimed it was from mouth wash. He tested a point-zero-zero-eight. Two minutes later it was point-zero-zero-nine. Adamski ordered Erickson remain on 24/7 and said he would get no special treatment from anyone. She said she may jail Erickson if he violates again. Erickson’s next court date in set for early August.
