Pres. Pro Temp of the Senate Lee Schoenbeck remains opposed to a special session regarding eminent domain

(KWAT – Watertown, SD) Today, the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission begins hearings on the Navigator Carbon Capture Pipeline.

Later this fall, hearings will be held on another CO2 pipeline proposed by Summit Carbon Solutions.

There have been calls by some landowners and state lawmakers for a special legislative session to deal with private property rights and eminent domain, which is being used by the companies to secure land for their pipeline routes.

Senate President Lee Schoenbeck is not supportive of a special session, and does not think one will happen…

Schoenbeck describes opponents of the pipeline as a small group of people making a lot of noise.
