The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has approved a new wind energy facility to be built in Hyde and Hughes counties. According to a release about the project, the plant will generate up to 200 megawatts of energy and include up to 71 wind turbines over 46,931 acres. The plant is being built by North Bend Wind LLC. The approval process for this project began in June of 2021 and included a public meeting in Pierre in August.
