Rapid City school board votes to fire Rapid City Area High School Superintendent Nicole Swigart

The Rapid city Public School Board voted 6-1 Tuesday to fire Rapid City Area High School superintendent Nicole Swigart. Swigart was placed on 30-day leave in July for “discriminatory statements” she made to the US Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Cory Strasser will serve as acting superintendent while a search begins for her replacement.
