A registered sex offender in Aberdeen in facing a host of charges from an incident Monday.
According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the incident occurred Monday afternoon when a suspicious vehicle was reported at a park near the 1400 block of South 12th street located near a housing development in southwest Aberdeen.
Officers attempted to approach the vehicle but the driver fled. Later officers found a juvenile occupant of the vehicle at a different location and learned of a possible sexual assault. Officers needed to form a perimeter around the area of the 600 block of 7th avenue southeast to locate the suspect in a garage who had fled on foot.
One officer injured their leg in attempting to apprehend the suspect.
The suspect was ultimately taken into custody and has been identified as a 30-year-old male sex offender on probation. He faces charges including solicitation of a minor, burglary, kidnapping, obstructing, probation detainer, rape, possession of child pornography and sexual contact with a minor.
