Republicans clean sweep statewide offices in midterm election

Midterm election results from last night Republican’s again clean sweep the statewide offices.

Governor Kristi Noem defeats challenger Jamie Smith 62 percent to 35 percent.

Senator John Thune defeats challenger Brian Bengs 70 percent to 26.

Representative Dusty Johnson defeats Libertarian Colin Duprel 77 percent to 23 percent.

Republican Monae Johnson defeats Democrat Thomas Cool for secretary of state 64 percent to36 percent

State auditor Richard Sattgast defeats Stephanie Marty 63 percent to 32.

State treasurer Josh Haeder defeats John Cunningham 67 percent to 33 percent.

Republican Brock Greenfield defeats Timothy Azure for the commissioner of school and public lands 67 percent to 33. percent.

Chris Nelson defeats Jeffrey Barth 69 percent to 31 percent to retain his spot on the Public Utilities Commission.

For ballot questions constitutional amendment D, or the expansion of medicaid passed with 56 percent of the vote while the legalization of marijuana failed 53 percent to 47 percent in the form of IM 27.
