The South Dakota League of Women Voters and the League of Women Voters of the United States has filed a federal lawsuit to challenge a law making it harder for individuals or organizations to collect ballot initiative signatures. The specific law requires people collecting signatures to have at least a 30-day residency within the state. The two groups have filed the lawsuit claiming it violates the first and 14th amendment to the US Constitution.
