The South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee killed a bill Monday which would have created a South Dakota state flag design commission looking to change the flag. The bill was sponsored by Democrat Reynold Nesiba of Sioux Falls. The commission would have looked at South Dakota’s flag design and could have determined there was no need for changes. According to the North American Vexillology Association, vexillology being the study of flags, South Dakota ranked near the bottom of a 2001 survey.
