South Dakota State head volleyball coach Dan Georgalas has announced the addition of Karly Berkland to the Jackrabbit staff. Berkland will serve as a graduate assistant coach.
“It’s a first for our program to expand our staff to four total coaches and I couldn’t be happier with Karly’s impact so far,” said Georgalas. “She’s a strong volleyball mind with great Division I playing experience who has already made an impact in our gym. Her feedback on serve receive and defensive techniques is high-level and I’m excited to have a young coach with such a promising future join our staff.”
Berkland joins the Jackrabbits following a standout career at the University of Connecticut. She played three seasons as the Huskies’ libero, where she finished her career ranked fifth in program history for career digs (1,612). Berkland led the Huskies in digs all three season on the roster. She started her career with two seasons at Houston.
While at UConn, Berkland worked as an assistant coach for the Husky Volleyball Club. She also worked with the UConn athletic marketing team and Moyal Enterprises in her time as an undergraduate
Berkland is a native of Williamsburg, Iowa. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management.
