South Dakota Secretary of State Monae Johnson has announced her office will be taking part in a national effort to use September as National Voter Registration Month. To register to vote in South Dakota you must be a US Citizen, maintained residence in South Dakota for at least 30 days prior to submitting a registration form, be 18 years or older on or before the next election, not currently serving a sentence for a felony conviction, or not be judge mentally incompetent in a court of law. To register, visit your county auditors office or other locations including:
• Municipal Finance Offices
• Driver license exam stations
• Public assistance agencies providing food stamps, Medicaid, TANF or WIC
• Department of Human Services offices that provide assistance to the disabled
• Military recruitment offices
• Office of the Secretary of State the DMV, municipal
