Senator Rounds helps author bill to protect AM radio in vehicles

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds has partnered with a bipartisan group of 19 other senators in authoring the “AM for Every Vehicle Act.” The bill would direct federal government regulators to require automakers to maintain AM broadcast radio as a standard feature in new vehicles. Lately, there has been a push by some automakers to do away with AM radio in new vehicles, especially electric vehicles as the frequency can interfere with the battery. In a statement about the legislation, Senator Rounds calls AM radio an important resource, which allows citizens access to free information, especially in rural areas where radio frequencies are hard to come by.
