Sisseton man sentenced on 30-year-old cold case

A Sisseton man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a 30-year-old cold case. According to the US Attorney for South Dakota 58-year-old Jay Adams was sentenced on June 24th. Adams pleaded guilty to a 1992 cold case where a child was killed on the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation. According to prosecutors Adams slammed a child’s head on concrete, placed the victim in her bed and did not seek medical attention. The investigation failed to identify Adams as a suspect at the time, but in 2023 eye witnesses came forward identifying Adams as a suspect.
