The South Dakota’s Department of Public Safety will be conducting sobriety checkpoints throughout the month of September.
Law enforcement will like to encourage resident to not drink and drive instead find a designate sober driver or use public transportation.
These checkpoints are currently scheduled to happen in the following counties: Beadle, Brookings, Brown, Butte, Clay, Codington, Fall River, Jackson, Jerauld, Lawrence, Lincoln, Minnehaha, Pennington, Roberts, and Walwort.
The monthly checkpoints are funded by the South Dakota Office of Highway safety and conducted by the South Dakota highway Patrol with the help of the local law enforcement.
Department of public safety would like to remind people to not drink and drive regardless of whether there is a checkpoint planned in their county.
