South Dakota joins lawsuit against social media company Meta for allegedly addicting youth to social media

(KMIT – Mitchell, SD) South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has joined Attorneys General from 41 other states in filing federal or state lawsuits against Meta alleging that the company knowingly designed and developed harmful features on Instagram and other social media platforms that purposefully addicted children and teens.

Jackley says he hopes to see a change in practices rather than just a monetary settlement.

He believes his goal is attainable.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
