South Dakota State Fair releases numbers showing attendance reaches near pre-pandemic levels

The South Dakota State Fair has released the official numbers of fair attendance during the 2022 get together. According to the numbers, attendance approached pre-pandemic levels. 192,279 people attended the South Dakota State Fair this past September in Huron. That is up from 181,459 in 2021 and up even more from 2020 at 107,992. However, before the COVID-19 pandemic numbers included in 2019 205,172 visitors and in 2018, 217,231. Fairgoers spent more than $2.8 million on foods, goods and carnival rides with more than $244,000 in tax revenue collected.
