South Dakota teachers continue to be some of the lowest paid in the country. That’s according to new data presented Monday to the state Teacher Compensation Review Board. The average South Dakota teacher earned $50,592 in 2021-2022. That puts South Dakota ahead of only Mississippi at $47,902 and West Virginia at $50,315. The national average salary of a teacher in the United States is $66,745.
