Stabbing victim in Vermillion identified

The name has been released of a Vermillion man killed in a stabbing within city limits this weekend. According to authorities, 47-year-old Christopher Bartling of Vermillion was killed in the early morning hours Sunday. Officers responded to calls about a stabbing at a residence around 4:10 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival officers found Bartling dead from an apparent stab wound. Upon further investigation, officers arrested 20-year-old Chezayia Liggins of Omaha and charged her with first degree murder. She remains in custody in the Clay County jail on $1 million cash bond.
