Stolen vehicle recovered in Hamlin county

(KXLG – Watertown, SD) On Friday, January 24th, 2025, at roughly 11:30 p.m., deputies from the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office located a parked vehicle along US Highway 81, approximately five miles north of Lake Poinsett. Inside the Subaru SUV, authorities found a female and a dog. During their inquiry, deputies discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from North Dakota.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a container of a drug substance. The driver, a 26-year-old woman from Aberdeen, was arrested on multiple charges, including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle (Class 5 Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 5 Felony), and Driving While License is Suspended (Class 1 Misdemeanor).

The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Lake Norden Police Department. The Aberdeen woman, who has not yet made her initial court appearance, is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution.
