Supreme court upholds conviction of second degree murder case

The South Dakota state supreme court has upheld a murder conviction from 2020. According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s office the court ruled against Tristian Larson’s request for acquittal, claiming prosecutors should have been barred from using statements made to the Pierre police Department. Larson was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of his then girlfriend’s 2-year-old son. Prosecutors allege on April 16 2020 Larson was watching the boy when he shoved him so hard he died two days later. He was sentenced to life in prison.
