Three former Minnesota Twins inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame Sunday

Major League baseball inducted its most recent class into the MLB hall of fame Sunday in Cooperstown New York. Enshrined into Cooperstown this class included three former Minnesota Twins and more.

The three former Minnesota Twins include longtime Washington Senator/Minnesota Twin pitcher Jim Kaat, former slugger David Ortiz, and Twins all-time great Tony Oliva.

Also inducted posthumously included left fielder Minnie Minoso, first-baseman and manager Gil Hodges, and first-baseman and manager Buck O’Neil.

Oliva spoke after getting inducted and thanked those who encouraged him to leave his home in Cuba and follow his dream in the United States…

Olivia married a Hitchcock South Dakota woman in Gordette DuBois and was married in Hitchcock.

Kaat played for the Twins almost the entire decade of the 60s and thanked Twins fans specifically upon his induction…

While Ortiz became a star in Boston, he started his career in Minnesota. Oritz also became the first designated hitter in MLB history to make the hall of fame his first year of eligibility. He talked about the importance of the game around the world…
