Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson has obtained Chinese citizenship through naturalization as of Monday. The 29-year-old forward from New York is one of many athletes who have obtained Chinese citizenship in recent years, but first NBA player to do so. It is believed because of this new citizenship, Anderson will play for China at the upcoming FIBA World Cup August 25th in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia as well as the Olympic Games in Pairs next year. According to Chinese media, Anderson’s maternal grandmother was born in Jamaica to a Chinese father and a Jamaican mother.
