Timberwolves trade five players and four first round picks to Utah for center Rudy Gobert

On Friday, just before the long holiday weekend, the Minnesota Timberwolves made one of the biggest trades in franchise history and possibly one of the biggest moves in professional Minnesota sports hisotry.

The Timberwolves acquired Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert in exchange for a number of players and host of draft picks. Minnesota sent Patrick Beverly, Malik Beasley, 2022 21st overall pick Walker Kessler, Leandro Bolmaro and Jared Vanderbilt to Utah.

The Timberwolves also sent draft picks including the teams 2023 first round pick, 2025 first round pick, a 2026 pick swap with the Jazz, a 2027 first round pick and a 2029 top five protected first round pick. Gobert is a 30-year-old French basketball player who is a three time NBA All-Star, and three time NBA defensive player of the year which is tied for second most in league history.
