A traffic stop in Beresford lead to the arrest of a suspect in a field. According to the Alcester Police Department, officers were helping Beresford police with a traffic stop around 2:15 a.m. Saturday. A Missouri man with two passengers sped away after law enforcement allegedly smelled marijuana within the vehicle. Authorities gave chase with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour. The SUV was stopped near the Vermillion off ramp and the driver then began running on foot. In the end he was arrested lying down in a bean field and was taken into custody to the Union County Jail.
