Transformation project sues state for discrimination

The Transformation Project, a group seeking to help transgender youth across the United States has filed a federal lawsuit against Governor Kristi Noem and the South Dakota Secretary of Health. The lawsuit alleges the group was discriminated against when a contract was abruptly terminated with the state Department of Health in December. The contract would have allowed the organization to create a community health worker position using federal grant money. Governor Noem spokesperson Ian Fury says the contract was signed without Governor Noem’s approval and the administration does not support the organizations efforts.
