The trial date has been set for 40-year-old Joseph Hoek, the person allegedly responsible for killing Moody County Chief Deputy Ken Prorok during a high speed chase on February 2nd. Hoek allegedly struck Prorok with his vehicle while Prorok was attempting to lay out spikes to blow out his tires and end the chase. The trial date has been set for April 21st, 2025 and is scheduled to last five weeks. The state is seeking the death penalty in this case. Hoek has been deemed competent to stand trial, but his defense is currently seeking a determination of mental insanity, which the court has allowed to proceed.
