Two children injured in Watertown fire earlier this week hospitalized in the Twin Cities

(KWAT – Watertown, SD) An update for you this morning on those two young girls, ages 7 and 5, who were severely injured in a house fire at 525 3rd Street Southwest in Watertown Wednesday morning.

According to the Bruckner family fundraiser on GoFundMe.com, the girls remain hospitalized in the burn unit of a Twin Cities hospital–both in stable condition.

Both girls have second-degree burns on their bodies, and as of now, it does not appear any skin grafting will be required.

The girls are named Harper and Charley.

Nurses had to shave Harper’s head to reduce the chances of burns on her head becoming infected. She’s been using a breathing tube because of the soot and ash she breathed in during the fire, and how that’s impacted her lungs.

Charley had significantly more damage to her airways. Her breathing tube could remain in place for a few more days.

The GoFundMe page for the Bruckner family has raised more than $54,000 in donations in two days from more than 400 individual donors.
