Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy will undergo surgery on his right knee to repair a tear in his meniscus. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed the injury Tuesday after McCarthy reported knee soreness Monday…
O’Connell said the injured occurred Saturday during the Vikings 24-23 pre-season victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. It happened when McCarthy threw his second of two touchdown passes he had on the day. The severity of the injury will be determined once surgery begins according to the team. He would either need a trimming of the meniscus which he could return from this year, or a full repair which would sideline him until 2025.
