Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen made an appearance at the team’s training camp last week and received a surprise while visiting. After speaking to the team post-practice, Allen was informed he would be enshrined in the team’s “Ring of Honor” this upcoming season.

A California native, Allen played his college football at Idaho State. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the first three years of his career in Kansas City before the Vikings traded for Allen in 2008. The Vikings sent a first round pick, two third round picks and swapped sixth round picks with Kansas City to get Allen. He played five of his 11 NFL seasons in Minnesota.
