Voters in three rural South Dakota counties rejected activists attempts to do away with ballot counting machines and only count votes by hand this coming November election. Initiated Measures of this nature were defeated in Haakon, Gregory and Tripp county Tuesday night. County auditors were against this move citing the fact it is not possible to hack into voting tabulating machines. They also argued hand counting would increase the cost of elections due to the need to hire more people on election night.
