Watertown man first degree murder trial begins Monday

The trial of a Watertown man began Monday in the Codington County Courthouse. 44-year-old Jerimiah Peacemaker is standing trial on first degree murder charges in the death of 28-year-old Kendra Owen of Watertown. The incident occurred almost three year’s ago in August of 2020. Police did not find Owen’s body until September 2nd in a residence in the 300 block of North Broadway, approximately nine days after she had been killed. By that point, Owen’s body had been in the process of decomposing and she had been decapitated. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackely is personally prosecuting this case, though the state did not seek the death penalty in this case.
