A Watertown man has been sentenced to prison for abusive sexual contact charges. 37-year-old Deserick Jake bird was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison, 10 years supervised released. He was initially indicted for aggravated sexual abuse of a child, but took a plea deal to plead guilty to abusive sexual contact in August of 2024. The charges allege Bird sexually assaulted a young girl between the ages of eight and 11. Bird is also to serve an 80-year sentence for a separate sexual assault conviction in South Dakota.
