Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber has been named a finalist for the 2023-24 Calder Memorial Trophy. The Calder is given annual to the person considered the NHL rookie of the year. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on June 27th in Las Vegas. Faber is 21 years old and recorded 47 points, eight goals and 39 assists, 150 blocked shots and 24:58 minutes of ice time while playing in all 82 games for Minnesota this season. He is a Minnesota native who played his college hockey at the University of Minnesota. The Wild acquired him in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings. The other finalists include Chicago forward Connor Bedard and New Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes.
