Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov returns to the United States

The online sports outlet The Athletic reports Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov is safe in the United States.

According to league sources Kaprizov left Russia late last week by way of Turkey and arrived over the weekend in New York City. He is scheduled to arrive in Minnesota Tuesday August 2nd.

Kaprizov was embroiled in a potential scandal in Russia regarding fake military ID cards. The allegations Karpizov obtained a fraudulent military ID appear to be largely refuted.

Military service in Russia is mandatory for a time, but according to the Athletic Kaprizov is a student of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration which allows him to defer his service until a later time.

Kaprizov like many other European NHL players last year also played without a U.S. Work visa due to a host of pandemic related issues. Its not clear if the team has obtained that work visa yet.
