Woman identified who died in drowning incident at Wiley Park

The Aberdeen Police Department has identified the woman who passed away last week in a drowning accident at Wiley Park. According to the department, 20-year-old Lorie Wurtz passed away when she was swimming with a group of friends on August 1^st. She is a Britton area woman who was swimming with others from another Hutterite Colony from Marshall county. An off-duty police officer who happened to be out at the park that night with his family began searching for the woman shortly after the drowning was reported at approximately 5:38 p.m. That night. Wurtz was finally located and transported to a local hospital where she would be pronounced dead.
