Zumbrota Minnesota man identified as individual killed in Pennington County motorcycle accident

A Zumbrota, MN man has been identified as the person who died late Saturday night in a motorcycle crash north of Hill City.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2012 Harley Davidson Touring motorcycle was southbound on U.S. Highway 385 when it crossed the centerline into the northbound lane and hit a guardrail.

Paul Smith, the 72-year-old driver, was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

 The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
