Aberdeen City council approves first reading of new ordinance regarding increase in utility rates

The Aberdeen City Council at its regular meeting Monday approved the fist-reading of an ordinance outlining proposed fee increases for city services in 2026. Increases include a $1.60 increase to flat monthly wastewater service fee, now up to $15.25. A 65 cent increase to wastewater usage fee moving it to $5.25 per 1,000 gallons. A $1.68 increase to flat monthly water service fee, up to $22 on service lines of less than two inches and a $2 increase to $24 for service lines taht are exactly two inches. An 80 cent increase to for residential and first tier 1,000 gallons of commercial use, $2 to monthly solid waste fee, ticket increases for obstructing snow removal, parking in front of a fire hydrant and obstructing fire lanes or fire apparatus, parking related ticket increases and building permit increases.
