The Brown County Commission at its regular meeting Tuesday discussed a proposal to buy a building near the current jail with the goal to renovate it to host as many as 70 male inmates. The exact address of the building was not disclosed by the Commission, but the overall plan is estimated to cost about $7 million. The building will cost approximately $1 million with another $5.5 to $6 million needed for renovation work. Sheriff Dave Lunzman says the plan of purchase and rennovation is approximately $4 million cheaper than building new.
