Citywide mosquito ground spray scheduled for Thursday

The Mosquito Control Division of the City of Aberdeen will be conducting a city-wide ground spray for mosquitoes on Thursday July 17th between the hours of 8:45 p.m. And 1:00 a.m. The adulticiding equipment is noisy and travels at 10 miles per hour. The mosquito control trucks can be identified by their flashing yellow lights. To ensure spray effectiveness winds must be 15 miles an hour or less and no inclement weather present. If winds are higher than 15 miles per hour or inclement weather is present, the spray will be suspended until conditions improve. The mosquito control division has identified the West Nile Virus as well as an increase in the Culex Tarsalis species of mosquitos in Aberdeen mosquito pools, the most common carrier of the West Nile Virus. You can reduce your risks of contracting West Nile by eliminating mosquito habitat around your property, applying insect repellents and wearing proper clothing when outdoors.
