Congressman Johnson outlines property tax plan if elected Governor

(Kelo.com – Sioux Fall, SD) Congressman Dusty Johnson is making the rounds this week, promoting one of the center pieces for his campaign for Governor.

His is a two-part plan, tied to a sales tax increase that will come next year.

Legislators approved a three tenths of a percent sales tax holiday two years ago…the holiday ends in 2027.

Johnson would use part of the increased sales tax revenues to provide property owners with a $400 property tax rebate.

The second part of his plan – The extra sales tax revenues would also fund a two-year zero property tax for first time homebuyers and former South Dakotans who want to come back home.
