Democrat candidate for Governor Robert Arnold fails to make primary ballot

Secretary of State Monae L. Johnson states that Robert Arnold did not have enough valid signatures to place his name on the Primary election ballot as a candidate for Governor.

A Democratic candidate for Governor requires 1,232 valid signatures to appear on the ballot. As outlined in SDCL § 12-1-36, the Secretary of State’s office conducted a random sample of the petition signatures and found 79.51 percent to be valid. Arnold submitted 1,407 signatures and based on the results of the random sample; 1,119 signatures were deemed valid.

Update: A Brown County woman authorities sought the public’s help in locating was found passed away. According to the Brown county
