(KWAT – Watertown, SD) A house on Lake Poinsett (pahn-sut) has been destroyed by fire.
The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office says the call came in Tuesday morning of a home on fire in the 400 block of West Lake Drive.
A neighbor spotted the fire and made the call to 9-1-1.
The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office was the first agency to arrive on the scene and confirmed an active structure fire.
Shortly after they arrived, the Lake Norden and Hayti Fire Departments arrived and fought the fire for several hours through the morning.
There were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.
The home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
