Former Watertown residential and retail developer charged with grand theft

(KWAT – Watertown, SD) A former Watertown residential and retail developer who went out of business last year has now been charged with Grand Theft.

Forty seven year-old Eric Skott, who formerly ran Crestone (kress-stone) Companies, was charged by Grand Jury indictment in Codington County recently.

He’s alleged to have failed to pay subcontractors for labor and materials at a building project at Mother of God Monastery.

The indictment indicates the amount of money owed is more than $5,000, but less than $100,000.

A warrant was issued for Skott’s arrest. He was taken into custody last week, booked into jail, but quickly released on a personal recognizance bond, with the only condition being that he be a law abiding citizen.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 1st.
